The Draft and Being a Conscientious Objector

With low recruitment and tens of thousands of persons in Iraq, the military stretched thin. So thin, that many people believe that the draft might be instated. Through the Selective Service, that all 18-25 year old male must register, the military could draft new persons to fill the void left by low number of new recruit's and deployments.

Many people are looking into becoming a Conscientious Objector (CO). This is a hard process, which involves a draft board critically interviewing you and why you should be a CO. I personally would apply to be a CO, for I would not kill a person at anytime. But many persons would gladly serve this country. And hats off to them. They are bigger and better than I am. I feel though that I am not capable of killing. I would have such a conflict that I could not do it.

If a person really wants to become a CO, than you must truly feel so. Do it for morals and your core values, and not just for avoiding something that you don't want to.

For some help with persons that might like to look into becoming a CO here are some links.
