Recently at my high school, which I will not name here, I have been being, for lack of a better word, yelled at, (she was more or less just raising her voice) by my teacher when the pledge comes over the intercom in the morning. The problem she has is that I refuse to stand. That is in my right, protected under the 1st and 14th amendments. I believe that the words "under God" only promote Christianity in public schools. I myself am a Christian, but I believe that we must insure equality to all people in the United States. I also object to the policies of the government, and thus I sit in protest during the pledge. All of this is under my rights, and I believe that anyone who feels the obligation to sit during the pledge to do so.
