According to a article published by the Washington Post yesterday, "Iran has followed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent letter to President Bush with explicit requests for direct talks on its nuclear program, according to U.S. officials, Iranian analysts and foreign diplomats."
But so far the United States has refused to talk with Iran until Iran "ends all uranium enrichment...and allows international inspections"[1]
If we refuse to talk until they stop enrichment, but they refuse to stop without talking, than we are stuck in a loop that we will not be able to get out of. If America is not willing to talk to Iran, than we cannot argue that we have exhausted all of our options. We must talk to them before we can declare failure. We must talk before we take any military action. We must talk or this problem will continue to persist.
Iran has reached out for talks, but the US refused. If Iran wants to talk, than that means that they are willing to compromise. We could make progress on this issue, than we could help our image in the Middle East. But if we just reject TALKING and just result to military action, than we truly a police state of the world. We must not take diplomacy for granted; for once people will not talk to the US, than we will really know what it meant for peace. With out talking we will not be able to achieve peace.
