Ratings Still Low For President Bush

President Bush has continued to have low job approval ratings, at only 42% in the most recent poll conducted by CNN. In that same poll, the President stood at 57% disapproval rate and 1% with no opinion. In that same report, it reported that the Iraq War has an favorable rating of only 35% and 61% unfavorable rating. This is an all time low for the approval rating of the Iraq War.

Currently, Americans trust Republicans more on the War on Terror by 10%. But Americans trust Democrats more on Iraq by 6% and the economy by 14%. The sampling error was +/- 3%. That puts all of these issues within reach of BOTH political parties. Democrats can capitalize on these issues, with slim margins on two of the three biggest issues in the 2006 election year. With these polls, it shows that Democrats can gain an advantage against Republicans. If Democrats frame the debate in favor of the Democratic policies they can win. This is the one main problem. While most Democrats have a policy on almost every issue, the Democrats have not been getting that message out as well as Republicans have been. But with this election, Democrats can change that.

Accountability is key for any policy that the government carries out but also there has to be a policy. Democrats can be accountable but the public image needs work. On the other hand, Republicans have good PR but are fully unaccountable for the policies that they implement. Democrats need only 15 seats in the House to gain power. This is easily within our grasp. An effective policy AND accountability at all levels of government is a win for Democrats.
