Mike Bouchard will face off against incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
Dick DeVos will face off against incumbent Gov. Jennifer Granholm. (Gov. Jennifer Granholm's State of Michigan's webpage can be found here)
Mike Bouchard supports an overall decrease in taxation of the wealthy, using the premise of the Trickle-Down Theory. He also supports a decrease in regulation of the health care industry. He also supports ending the $1.9 billion Single Business Tax. Gov. Granholm HAS, despite what Republicans want people to know, proposed replacing the tax. But Mike would not say where the $1.9 billion dollars will come from in HIS proposed cut of the tax. That money has to come from somewhere. Either massively cut spending or increase taxes. Michigan can't afford $1.9 billion in deficit spending. Now that is fiscal responsibility of the Republican Party. Not very responsible, is it?!?!
Dick DeVos's website states that on health care he "...will work to reign in the cost of health insurance for working families and job providers." Well isn't that grand. It almost makes it sound like his opponent wants high costs. But a) that’s not true and b) he proposes NO way to counter this national problem. He also supports the current policies of "marriage...between one man and one woman" and he says he will also "...stand up to any future attempts to redefine marriage in the state of Michigan." Finally, within his "ad check" section of his website one main fact that he is correcting in Gov. Granholm's ad is that the ad is misdated by a month. It will be corrected according to a State party representative. This is just one simple typo like error, and he has yet to prove that the substance of the 1000 JOBS that she created was flawed (which it is not). He cannot point out errors in the judgment of creating over 100 jobs so he must point out errors in a date on an ad. In the article quoted on his website about the ad ran by the Governor it says that this should be negative on Gov. Granholm because it is not acceptable to make a dating error "...in the superheated atmosphere of this campaign year." So the next time that Dick DeVos makes a simple error (like a typo) he should not be allowed to serve in the government. Fair enough.
