Free Nations

"Free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction."
- George W. Bush (October 3, 2003 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin)

In this quote President Bush was referring to Iraq and how "a peaceful Iraq and a free Iraq" will help in the "campaign to rid the world of terror". The problem is that a free nation does not equal a peaceful nation. If Mr. Bush's quote was true, than America would be one of the most peaceful nations on Earth. Mr. Bush also said that the "thugs" are resisting the US led occupation because they do not want a free Iraq that will lead to peace. But freedom and peace do not go hand-in-hand, so our great President is wrong on some point. This is clearly shown in the past three years after he said this quote. If this quote were true, than with the new freedoms in Iraq, most peace would come as well. But as it is widely known, Iraq is far from being at peace. If our Presidents policies are still based off of this false quote (that bringing freedom will bring peace by some stroke of luck) than Democrats must push hard against this failed policy.
