As everyone is aware, an Iraqi court sentenced "Saddam Hussein and two other defendants to death by hanging for a brutal crackdown in 1982 in the Shiite town of Dujail."
When asked about the date that this was announced (just days before the mid-term elections) White House Press Sectary Tony Snow denied that the timing of the verdict is related to the United States elections, and he praised the Iraqi judicial system saying that "The judiciary is operating independently and we need to give them credit for doing their job and doing it in the way they saw fit and proper."
This shows the double standard that the Republicans are attempting to hold on the Democrats. With 101 deaths, October had the highest monthly death toll since January 2005. And Republicans said that it was the Iraqi insurgents who want Democrats to win, so the insurgents make the month before the mid-term elections one of the deadliest in recent memory. But when it come to the Republicans, timing an event in Iraq for them to win the mid-term elections is totally unthinkable. This trial verdict is just too good to be true. It is a real November surprise. There is no denying that this is something that Republicans wanted to happen, and it’s all too good that it happens the two days before the mid-term elections.
