If terrorism is a form of warfare, and war terrorizes, then what exactly is the war on terror?

Sheep in Congress

Aren't you wondering why a new Congress, elected by the American people to make a change and stand up to the White House, is acting like a flock of sheep?

In the last hours before their summer recess, leaders in Congress caved in to President Bush's fear-mongering and passed a new law that lays your phone and email records bare to government spies without the basic legal safeguards that have governed domestic surveillance for almost 30 years.

The American Civil Liberties Union is standing up for our privacy rights and calling out Democratic leaders for their sheepish behavior by running "Sheep in Congress" newspaper ads in the home states of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

I hope you'll join with me, watch the online and print ads, and support the message we're sending.

Congress must not fail freedom on issues like the loss of habeas corpus rights, domestic spying and torture and secret detention.

We need lawmakers in Congress, not sheep.
