Infraction of Civil Libertries in a Post 9/11 Society

Civil libertries are one of the key points that makes all Americans who they are. Civil livertires are the base of all of the government and all of the civil duties of Americans. We have protection and rights in America that people in other countires are not afforded. And recently this conerstone of all that Americans have, has been under attack in the name of "Homeland Security". And many groups oppose the recent changes. Some of these groups include:

  • BORDC

  • CCL

  • ACLU

  • ALA

  • FCNL

  • Many of these recent changes have occured in the post-9/11 enviorment. Many of these infractions on our civil libertires are made under the USA PATRIOT Act. Many sections of this act are highly contversal. The main "problem" sections are sections 215, 411, and 505. Combined these three sections give the government new powers that allow them to check any and all private information, label anyone as an emeny combantant, and hold people without any changes. In an expanded view, it gives the government, on the reason of terrorism, the ability to infract on anyones civil libertries, no matter the actual merit for the arguements that the government uses. These new cuts in American civil libertries should not be tolartated. The USA PATRIOT Act and other oppertunities to infract on civil libertires must stop. And it must stop NOW!
