Official Critical of Halliburton Pact Is Demoted
According to The New York Times, Bunnatine H. Greenhouse, "a top Army contracting official who criticized a large, noncompetitive contract with the Halliburton Company for work in Iraq was demoted Saturday for what the Army called poor job performance." The contract that she was questioning was a non-bid 10 billion dollar contract. Greenhouse’s attorney is appealing the demotion on the grounds that the Army had violated a commitment to delay Ms. Greenhouse's dismissal until the completion of an inquiry by the Pentagon's inspector general. There recently has been much criticism of the non-bid contracts that have been granted to Halliburton and some of their subsidiary's, including Kellogg Brown & Root, whose contract Greenhouse was criticizing.
