Military Recruitment
Military Recruitment has become more and more centered on forcing kids and getting kids passed the system. Many times recruiters will help the kids lie about something which will keep them out of the military or cover up a drug problem. The story from The Nation in the September 12, 2005 issue titled Who's Next?, raises some big questions and concerns. Some of these concerns include pre-JROTC programs which target children as young as 11 for a future in the military and the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), which many schools give to there students without them knowing it is a test for the military until they enter the testing room. One major headache for military recruiters is parents. Many parents do not want to have there children deployed and a chance for them to be killed in the line of duty. Quoted in the article is a November 2004 Defense Department poll, which stated that only 25 percent of parents said they'd encourage their teens to enlist, compared with 42 percent two years prior.
