According to a CNN article, Senator Specter, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee is quoted as saying the Pentagon might have been stopping witnesses from testifying in front of the committee. According to the article, "The Department of Defense 'ordered five key witnesses not to testify' about a secret Pentagon unit". Also according to the article "Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said the Pentagon was concerned about discussing a classified program in an open hearing and it had worked with the committee to provide a Department of Defense representative to testify."
That is one person to testify. That person does not have all the first hand information that the FIVE persons that the committee wanted have. A representative’s job is to represent a place in a good light and that is the sole job at that time. But others that the committee wanted might have been the persons with the first hand information and not just a briefing about the situation. The Pentagon MUST change this. This committee should be able to interview these persons. They always have the choice to not answer the questions, the committee cannot force someone to speak.
