Today, President George W. Bush has "reluctantly accepted" her withdrawal from consideration of being the person to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Bush has stated he will find a new replacement "in a timely manner."
Bush said that she has withdrawn her nod because Senators wanted documents that she said were "internal documents concerning advice provided during her tenure at the White House." But this is not being believed by many. It is just like Brown and when he was brought back to Washington to do more important and better work.
This comes at a time when Bush is already low in the polls, has trouble in the CIA leak case, and ever growing dissent on the issue of Iraq. This is just another hill that the White House will have to climb before they get even a majority support in this country. But as Bush has said, "The American people expect me to do my job, and I'm going to."
