Tom DeLay Is Back In The Spotlight

Much to Rep. DeLay's dismay, Jack Abramoff has agreed to plead guilty to corruption, fraud, and tax evasion charges. This will only lead to more interest into Tom DeLay, as Mr. Abramoff is connected as one of the key players in the charges along with Rep. DeLay.

Tom DeLay has said that the indictment is "one of the weakest and most baseless indictments in American history." and an "...attempt by the liberal media to embarrass me." But as this proves, there is some truth in the charges that have been brought against the former House Majority Leader. He must be held accountable and should cut a plea deal. The outcome can be much worse for him in the future.

Tom DeLay wanted a short court battle so he could resume his leadership role, but the judge has refused to give any special treatment to Tom DeLay. This means that Rep. DeLay will most likely not be the majority leader for many months or ever again. This case will be brought in the entirety and will be seen through. The plea of Abramoff is just one more step in that direction.
