Indefinite Detention

An exclusive TIME interview with John Negroponte reported "that three dozen or so of the worst al-Qaeda terrorists held in secret CIA prisons are likely to remain in captivity as long as the 'war on terror continues.' He added, 'These people are being held. And they're bad actors. And as long as this situation continues, this war on terror continues, I'm not sure I can tell you what the ultimate disposition of those detainees will be.'"

This is sad information. You wouldn't think that a country that is a leader for the world would deny the basic principles that it was founded in the name of protecting those same principles. If we take away rights and principles to protect them, than they are still GONE!!! Either we are getting them taken away by other people, or we ourselves give them up in the name of protection.

In a time of war, especially a time of what is deemed the 'war on terror' we must make sacrifices, but to sacrifice the base of our country is just going too far. We must save the American way but not at the same time take it away. We must assure some rights to the people we are fighting. If we do not, how do we justify it?!?! Are they the bad guys 100% of the time?!?! What if we have even ONE person in indefinite detention that has NO true knowledge or is not even involved in terrorism?? Do we sacrifice their freedom and rights in the name of safety??? America must look at how it is carrying out the practices of the War on Terror and the detentions that are involved with it.
