In the widely reported USA Today story, it says that "The National Security Agency has been secretly collecting the phone call records of tens of millions of Americans, using data provided by AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth, people with direct knowledge of the arrangement told USA TODAY."
President Bush has said that the NSA only intercepts calls between someone within the US who is talking to a known al Qaeda terrorist. But you cannot say that MILLIONS of Americans have been talking to terrorists. This is just more proof that the Bush Administration is not telling the entire truth at best, and flat out lying at worst.
Gen. Michael Hayden nominated to become the next director of the CIA, was the head of the NSA from March 1999 to April 2005. We are putting a person who was actively involved with this wiretapping scandal in charge of our intelligence agency that is ever important in this day and age. We must not give the directorship of the CIA to not only a military man, but to a man who participated in activities that were immoral and illegal.
