Vow To Say Within The Law

In a prepared comment given by President Bush on March 11th, he said, "I vowed to the American people that our government would do everything within the law to protect them against another terrorist attack." He went on to say that "...every time sensitive intelligence is leaked, it hurts our ability to defeat this enemy."

The key is everything within the LAW. The law is clear that if you want a wiretap, than you must get a warrant. The justification for not getting a warrant is that it would take to long to get one. But the government can get a warrant AFTER the data is collected, if filed within 72 hours. This is an outrage that Mr. Bush is throwing out our rights in the name for defeating the enemy. All Mr. Bush is doing is using the American people’s fears against their rights. This must stop.

This is by far from the first time that I have posted on this topic and that is because more and more information is being made available by the major media outlets, which leads to more reasons for this illegal act to stop.

The transcript of Bush's comments can be found here.
