In a CNN.com article today, it said that the highest of volunteer's is in the midwest, with the Twin Cities leading the way (congrats to the 2.8 million plus people in the Twin Cities area). According to that article, "more than four in 10 adults volunteered" in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Las Vegas was the lowest, at just over 14%, out of the 50 cities which were included in the survey.
Volunteering does not take that much time; just a few hours even just once a month. In large cities with hundreds of thousands, and possibly millions, of people, just one hour per person can add up to many, many hours of work very quickly.
One vote counts in an election and one hour of volunteering counts as well. It can help others and the community and it shows the true spirit of America. People helping others when it is not even required.
