The dramatic declines in teenage pregnancy rates noted in the United States between 1995 and 2002 were largely due to improved contraceptive use, not to abstinence, a new study shows.
The continuing push by governmental leaders on abstinence only education is not working and this study proves that point. The use of contraceptives can decrease teenage pregnancy rates and because it works it is what should be taught. If parents do not want their child to be taught this then they should keep their child from this educational program. But the US government should use contraceptives as part of a national program and not just abstinence only.
