In a statement by Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, he said that "These findings [referring to the IG report findings] of the Inspector General reinforce the conclusion that I reached in my report more than two years ago: the office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy generated its own intelligence analysis, inconsistent with the views of the Intelligence Community, in order to support the policy goals of the Administration." Sen. Levin went on to say that "The bottom line is that intelligence relating to the Iraq-al Qaeda relationship was manipulated by high ranking officials in the Department of Defense to support the Administration’s decision to invade Iraq..."
Clearly according to this report, pre-war intelligence WAS MANIPULATED!!! We must hold the people responsible for this manipulation. It was people working for the president, thus Mr. Bush must answer for what happened. Even if Mr. Bush was not the one who made up the intelligence connections, it was persons working for him who did the act and thus he is responsible for the actions. He used this information to invade a nation and cause thousands of American and tens of thousands of Iraqi deaths. Mr. Bush should have done more research on this topic. Most people would think that the White House would have all sides to an argument and know what was really going on, but clearly this was not the case and President Bush must be held accountable for this actions.
